My unexpected trip in New Delhi, India FLY ME BACK TO CORK PLEASE

Hmmmmm kay. Nak update blog ke takmau. Given the situation I'm in right now banyak perkara boleh diblogkan. Alright where do I start?

So I was supposed to go back last Sunday. 11.45pm the gulprens and the boyprens made a surprise visit by sending me at KLIA. I was so delighted coz well, goodbye is never easy. By having a few people sending me away, it makes goodbye easier, lighter. Honestly everytime I go back, I wish my friends and family could send me. Tapi having mak is a must la. If she's not there lagi lah tak boleh balik.

wajah kesayangan hamba, thanks for taking the trouble to send me :')

This is my first time on KLM flight and what I can say is...the flight sucks. Maybe because I was on Boeing 777. Ugly chairs, very uncomfortable, screwed up flight entertainment. I'm biased to Malaysian Airlines kot. BEfore we departed the flight looked like there was something wrong la. They turn on and off the engine I thought it was normal.

Four and a half hours later, the captain made an announcement there was a problem with the motor, and assured it was under control. I was half asleep so I didn't think much about it. Twenty minutes later, the captain came again and said they we we had to land at New Delhi and that one of the engine has failed. At that time I was so confused and blur but started to think of bad things dah. Have I told you all I learned how to swim because I'm afraid if my plane crashed into a sea? Weird, I know right..

Fortunately the plane landed safely, on New Delhi's airport. Although it kinda parked weirdly in the middle of the landasan. We waited for like 1.5hours before we finally could get out of the plane. Since we don't have Visa, we had to give up our passports at the immigration so I actually don't have my passport with me now.

We had to collect our checked in luggage and after a while, much to my disappointment my luggage was badly damaged. Like it couldn't even stand up on its own. Dahlah flight jadi camni, luggage jadi camtu den tatahu nak kata apa dah. Tapi tulah, since I just left home, happily I'm pretty okay handling my emotions so I did not cry. I just..hmmm frustrated? I used shawls to hold my luggage together to bring it to the hotel.

the damaged luggage

They sent us to the hotel with a bus, a bus that will make you feel that you are, indeed in India. Checked in the hotel and dragged in my luggage to the hotel room. It was 6.30am New Delhi time when we finally got into our rooms. I opened the bag to find out a lot of things were damaged. Even my medicine. Itu pun still tak terasa nak nangis ke ape I calmly wash things that could be saved.
the bus

That morning I had to go out to buy a new luggage and boy oh boy this is place is indeed not as pleasant as any other country I've been. Even the shopping malls looked dodgy. That was one of the scariest experience I had. Bought a new, much smaller luggage coz oh well, takde apa sangat pun boleh disumbat dalam tu lagi.

So since then I've been sitting in the hotel room, online. At times, there will be power cut off in this hotel. Lunch, dinner and breakfast are provided by the hotel so at that time I will eat together with 2-3 Malaysians I met here. Berapa kali dah asyik makan kari ketiak pun dah bau kari. LOL.

my breakfast this 2 days, paratha and aloo gobi.

the hotel is surrounded by constructions. dodgy modgyy

the pool

Right now right here, I'm starting to lose my mind already. Patutnya fly this morning (11am, 4th Jan) but they delay us again. The hotel staff told us the next time they were given is at 1am, 5th Jan. I've never wanted to go back to Cork this much. I need to attend classes. I need to treat my patients. I need to get outta this place as soon as possible before I lose my marbles.

People, pray for me please?

PART 1
We were in this flight KL0810 departing Sunday january 2nd 2011 at 23:45 from Kuala Lumpur with scheduled arrival Monday January 3rd 2011 at 05:50 in Amsterdam. On board of a Boeing 777 (2 engines) with plate number PH-BVB. We had this emergency landing in New Delhi airport because of an engine failure.
Actually, the organization until we reached the hotel was pretty good. We have to understand that we were more than 400 passengers unexpected landing in the middle of the night. Only half an hour after landing we could leave the aircraft, pick up our luggage and go to those buses that were already in there waiting for us to send us to different hotels.
As you wrote, inmigration “responsibles” took our passports. I asked for a receipt but they decline to give us any. By the way, I’m not sure it is worth but I’m reporting this situation to the proper authorities in my country, Spain.
Once we reached our hotel, “The Park” we were waiting for about 1 hour to get our room key. Once they gave it to us, we tried to enter the room but it was already occupied, then I walked down reception in order to get the proper room and the proper key. Then it was about 6:00AM and we went to have breakfast just in case.
We went back in our room just to sleep a few hours. At 12:30h they gave us buffet meal in a specific room just for passengers of this flight. The meal was really, really bad. I was on travel with my wife and with our kid who was on 2nd birthday by that day. Since our kid was sick and had fever, I ordered one just plain omelet. They decline to give us it because It was not included in the buffet. Then I said I just wanted the omelet and I would pay for it, they said tools to cook an omelet were own by another department (Breakfast department?). Well, we were not able to feed or baby who had got fever. When leaving that room we were adviced that dinner would take place at 19:00h.
I kept asking for some news about our next departure and there were no news at all. This same day, Monday January 3rd Suddenly, at about 18:30h we received this call saying that 19:00 we would go to the airport. But, men, here started the real problems.
Once we got that airport, after a crazy driving in New Delhi roads, we tried to enter the terminal. Then those security men with weapons would never let us go in because we didn’t have a passport and a flight ticket. We were at gate 6 and I said to this man that we were coming from emergency landing, so we didn’t have ticket but used boarding pass, and passports were with their colleagues at the immigration office inside the airport. We had to go to gate 7, then to another gate, then back to street for almost 2 hours until that woman came with some passports in several plastic bags. Hey mate, it looked like the black market passport sales, I could see hands here and there taking any passport, that was totally crazy.
Once we entered the building, we checked our luggage in. At that time, almost 22h I asked to KLM staff that when were we going to have our dinner. The answer was that dinner inside the airplane. I answered that last time we ate was 12:30PM, departure time for our new flight KL0872 was scheduled at 01:50AM so we would never have dinner before 02:30AM and that was 14 hours with no eat. That guy said that he would find out but he never came back with an answer.
Then, time to cross the immigration desk. Oh mate, now the problem was that we didn’t have that stamp to enter the country. I replied that those passports never left that airport, their colleagues took them when we arrived so please solve this problem because I am Spanish, I am in my trip back home and I don’t want to waste 1 more minute of my time in that country.
Once we crossed that point then here comes hand luggage screen. Hey, the same shit because my boarding pass didn’t have the immigration stamp.

PART 2

Finally we did it and we walked in the aircraft but just a couple of meters before its door another man asked me for my passport again. You cannot imagine how pissed off I was and what was my answer.
India, I never had that purpose to visit your land but you can be 100% sure that I will never be back in there in purpose.
At the end of the day I consider ourselves lucky because of several reasons,
We landed safely
We paid our dinner in the airport that we will charge to KLM
We spent only 1 day in that place and I know some passengers spent more than that
We are out of there
We don’t live in India (I feel sorry about those nice Indians)

hey Agosan, yeah I guess we were in the same flight! I was in Bristol Hotel. The staffs were nice. The rooms were okay. The food was quite okay, except the last bit they told us to pay for the dinner. But we refused. And said we've no money and got away with it.

I think KLM is a bit unprofessional by leaving us without updating any info. They only call us an hour before we were supposed to gather before the coach pick us up to the airport. I was told there are some of us managed to get an earlier flight. That was a bit unfair wasnt it?

I made a report about my damaged luggage and yet to hear anything from them.
