Events of the events..

One of the differences between studying here and studying in local uni is having the opportunity to bring up two ends of world together. Being in Ireland, whose people are mostly urrmmm...Whites(?) and Catholics, our arrival of variety skin colours and religions might trigger their curiosity-ness of who really we are. (Or so we would like to think as that)

Thus, events like International Cultural Week and Islamic Cultural Event are our golden opportunity to give them some exposure on who we are. What we are. Why we are doing stuff like this and that and every whatnots questions they have in their mind that might disturb them all this while (cey poyo je)...

Story 1

I was accompanying Wany at Muslim Cultural Society (MCS) booth which was opened to educate them on what Islam really is. They exhibited basic things in Islam like what's Hijab, Halal food and stuff. Honestly, that was my first experience of this kind of thing because all this while there has been always a conflict with my class schedule.

And so we were approached by a guy, who seemed to be interested with our leaflets of information. He took the FAQs leaflets. I began to converse, and that was the start of the almost never-ending discussion with the guy.

The guy is an atheist (a free thinker, like that) and so he has a lot of thing in his mind against the idea of believing in God. What I understand that he thinks that we don't need a God to tell us what's wrong or what's right as those things can be deduced by our own moral thinking. Some of the questions he asked me was : -
  • the response I got from local people ie the Irish. To which I replied the reponse has been so far so good as I haven't really encountered people who show their hatred to me etc etc. But my answer might be very biased as my world, so far revolved mainly around school and home only...
  • whether I felt opressed by wearing Hijab. To which I replied not at all. And I don't even see the idea of opression by making us wearing this Hijab. Instead, this Hijab has save us from a lot of damages, I guess?
  • whether Islam has put men on superior against women. To which I replied not really and then I passed to Kak Izzah to which she replied about how woman needs a man and vice versa. We also stressed out the point that opression of woman by man doesn't really occur now as we (as in, we, woman) can still go abroad, to study, work etc etc
  • my opinion on Gays. To which I replied they are going against nature and trying to make the world upside down. The guy strengthen his stance by saying "Do you belief in God? SO why don't you belief God has His own plan by making them gay" in which I think is totally ridiculous. He even said that they are born to be gay and said something about being genetically gay. Oh cmon, how do gays passed on their genes to begin with? Now don't even talk me about IVF or any other ridiculous idea of gay couples getting a child. They are just destroying the child's future as they will make the child confused about themself. I belief in Allah. and I belief Allah create man and woman for them to complement each other. In Quran, we've been "warned" about this homosexual issues by the story of People of Lut. eh kenapa tibe2 panjang sangat explain pasal gay ni hahahah..
The heated discussions went on for a while that I had to disengaged myself to entertain other people coming to our booth and let Kak Izzah continued with the guy. heheh...

And my evening at the MCS booth was spent promoting our chicken pies, beef pies, sweet porridge (bubur cha cha), chocolate cakes and bread savoury (?) in conjunction with "introducing" them about Halal food. It was really a good experience indeed :)

Story 2

Before Story 1 occured, I was in the Student Centre watching the performance of my fellow Malaysians for International Cultural Week. This annual event was organized by International Student department and each year, Malaysian booth must be the most urmmm...interesting I must say. Last year I was having my Biochem exam on the same week so I didn't get to perform/take part that much. It has been sort of a tradition that this event will be carried out by the 1st years. With the amount of 1st year students we have this year, the job was done excellently I must say!

I skipped Pathology class that evening to attend both events and I must say the experience that I got were really worth skipping the class!

Story 3

After our tiring Biochem lab, on the way out, I was having conversation with my Botswanian classmates F and KB

KB : You know the pie that u gave me yesterday (refer to story 1).....was it the rambutan meat?
Me : Huh? Rambutan? No that was CHICKEN pie.
KB : No no no it was rambutan meat, I know it was rambutan meat. The portion u gave me for the rambutan pie was so small
Me : What rambutan? Rambutan doesn't have meat
F : Yeah yeah yeah, in Malaysia you have a lot of oranggutan. you must be really eating tthem..

At that time I started bursting laugh...what??? ORANG UTAN rupenye..

Me : Oh no, that was not Orang Utan. That was chicken. And that's not how you pronounce it. It's o-rang (I paused) u-tan. Not oranggutan
F : Orangutan.
KB : yeah yeah it's orang (he paused) utan

And so they kept on repeating orang--utan for few times. heh~ sabo je lah...

Story 4

On the same day as the event in Story 1 & 2 happened, I (as in my housemates + Dayah and I) performed on the stage in front of the audience. For the second time of my life, I am contributing my sumbang voice to torture the audiences' ears. Hahahahha...it was even worse this year as I was still having my sore throat and I was struggling from not bursting cough. Hohohohoho....

anyway the event went well. and in the end of the day, I got to play with the adorable Darwisy Fakhrullah the tough guy. Hehehehe...

And I still find it hard to address myself as Aunty Nad. I guess I still am not used to the generation difference thing :P

Ahhh..okay.I really should get going now. The cough syrup are really making my world goes around literally...

Rain rain..go away, come again another day~

Yes rain, pleash...pleash go away. I spent the whole preparing things for our BBQ today tawwww...

It was so long since I last masak meriah2. Yesterday I put aside the pain of my knee and spent the day cooking chicken rice and marinating the chickens for our batch's BBQ. Perangai cam kaki dah okay but at the end of the day...ouh...sakit dia kembali that I had to take the leftover painkiller I kept. I think the pain was also contributed by the fact that I terpeleot while I was busy packing up my things and tried to lift up the heavy boxes.

But today I am okay I guess. I am posting this while duduk bersila. Now how cool is that! I can bersila okay?? hahahhaa...gile!

Now let's hope the rain goes away by this evening. Kalau tak cacat lah our planning :(

My geeky weekend

Since it is no longer feel home here, I spent my Saturday at Brookfield Health Science building library....

Why I choose to walk more to Brookfield instead of the Boole library? Simply because it is small and nice and cozy. Plus u get to access the net nearby if u are tired and there are also prayer room in that building. Everything is perfect =)

View from the prayer room. Yeap it's situated on top of the roof. Spring is coming but why doesn't the coldness go away??? Huermphh...
My anatomy books. *seeeeeeeserabut*
Even the flowers are confused too. Should they bloom or they should not? Is it winter or spring?
Brookfield Health Science Complex where I have most of my classes here..it's situated a lil bit isolated from UCC Main Campus. But not that far tho'. 10 minutes walk from my place.

Oh by the way, out of boredom and tenseness, me and my chaotic friend Wany decided to make a banana choc cake..

I can guarantee u the process of baking this cake is CLEAN and SAFE. Muahahahhahahahhaha..

Kek kami yang berbintat-bintat. Heeee...
Mari menghias kek
*lame gler*
Close up. It reads : "Selamat Pereksa" credit to Mihah for the writings. Kalau cikgu BM ko nampak mesti dia nangis kan tgk ko eja gitu mihah?? Muahahhaha....

Notice changes to my post recently? Yeap. More real pictures. Since I got new toy, better use it to the fullest. 5 megapixel maaa.... =D

p/s : cissss..ingatkan siap2 smbur perfume smua nak gi clubbing. rupenye nak bermesra-mesra diliving room....shhhhhoooooooooooottttttttttttt I want my freeeedddddooooOoooommmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I AM GOING TO BE FINE

Ah...lame tak ngeblog...disini

So the parliament has dissolved today? Interesting. So much for Pak Lah's favour for number 13, so he chose to make it on the 13th of January. But heyyss..I am only 20 years and 6 months (denial mode) so I guess I can't register as a voter yet.

By the way I've made a new student card. Yeap, it costed me €15, but..it's just a €15..bkan bley miskin pun kalau buat baru..(cey baru dapat duet bleh ah brag...) This lovely, rectangular thing has costed me one day of worrying and a few days of distraction. Now I can study without kept on figuring out how to detach my attached bed from the wall (coz I think the card went into the celah2..)
Now I can go to Mardyke without *pretending* I-just-realized-my-card-went-missing-oh! -can-you-plz-find-them-for-me-oh! it's-not-there-can-I-get-a-free-access?

I don't feel good with my Biochem revision progress. But I'm gonna make it better. If I don't feel good, it will be..not good. So let's think positively (that's what I learned from The Secret la kan..) I'm gonna be just fine with the Biochem exam.
Let's repeat this..

I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam
I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam

I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam
I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam

I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam
I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam
I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam
I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam

I'm gonna be just fine with the biochem exam

haha gile tak tenang minda..

Anyhow anyhoos I'm gonna be alone this weekend. This is what u get if u do a last minute revision. Huu...I've even have to withdraw myself partially from the International Cultural Week event going on next week. I am supposed to be handling Performance along with Usop. Haih...so sad..Hopefully Usop will be doing fine with the storyboard I outlined.

Fundamental Practice : Ethics & Law *gulp*

Okay this is a record. 29 posts in a month????

This is 2 conditions which trigger me to blog =>
  • stressful condition. exams. internal & external problems.
  • when meds studs are having their exam. so I can't disturb them much and I have to dissocialize myself with real ppl and socialize with cyber ppl.
When this 2 conditions occur in the same month, wallaaa...I blog non-stop.

But I have to blog this out. I feel soOooOooo...insecured.

About this one new subject I have to take this semester. Ethics & Law in Fundamental Practice. I have totally NO IDEA what am I learning eventhough we are done with several lectures..

Behavioral Science is a new subject to me. Agreed. But at least I have some basics on a few areas like motivation..Plus, it's a subject which deal with Psychological issues, and yeah I can still connect the dots.

BUT this Ethics & Law subject is totally different. Hearing the words ETHIC & LAW itself has sent me down to a sombre gloomy world. (No offense those who are offended T_T) The bad news is..we are gonna be tested in this subject. And the marks would affect the percentage of my final DS1002 marks, of course!!

Just now, during class my lecturer Mr KD came out with few case studies related to negligence in practice, and as usual he asked our response on respective issues. The girl sitting on the 2nd row answered his question, and KD replied "goood". Then onto next questions, the girl behind me replied confidently and she got a wonderful appraisal too. And so did that and this people...but not me. Definitely not me. I was dumbfounded. I found myself very dumbO.

Today's tragic tragedy in the lecture has really sent shivers down my spine. I've got to find a starting point and start taking this subject seriously. Like, seriously seriously! Now go Nadz go! Go rangers gigi berusaha :D

My first Biochemistry class

Of textbook, free pads-cum-new-biochem-notes, and my batik anatomy notes.

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from

My 1st biochemistry class starts today. My brain was still okay during my first lecture (anatomy) but then it got worse during the biochem lecture.

The wordy slides used didn't help either..otak saye bagai mahu blackout...ngantuk T_T
And he's not going to post those slides on Blackboard?!?! (Blackboard-system where the lecturers post the notes/announcement online for student access). Oh apakah?!

Is this the effect of decaffeinated coffee I started to take today? Should I rely on the normal coffee back?? Psychological or physiological?

And this whole ticket hunting and house hunting is really tiring. I know this may sound too early but who cares..

travel agencies..
emirates..mas..gulf air..australia airlines..
daft.ie? let.ie?
this landlord..that landlord?
Oh Lord, pls make things better for me =)

Muchos Gracias

Well...some eye candies on Cork town (at least the town that I always go. tatau la kot ade town laen ke)

Erm..ape name eh. Washington Road? Ke?

The B&B along the way to town. (cam..motel ke budget hotel camtu lah)
One of UCC entrance.

Of Mahon Point

Big thanks to Atiq & Kak Rose, yesterday I managed to take another steps further from the town of Cork to Mahon Point (MP). Located 15-20 mins away from the town, we took bus #10 from Glasheen, stopped at the Grand Parade at town, waited for Kak Rose, and hop on the bus to MP. Finally....a REAL shopping complex with its own Cinema and several boutiques under one roof! Okay rase loser giler plak..

We watched The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Fort. Was hoping Enchanted is available on the screen but to my surprise, IT IS NOT OUT YET, tuan2 dan puan2. Ya...begitulah fenomena negara2 maju disini. But...whatever. I miss watching movie in a real cinema (eventho there were like only 10 of us inside there??) and the movie is packed of psychotic ppl who would pull the trigger off when they felt like doing so. Sakit otak saya mahu menerima!

The whole shopping trip was fun and enjoyable. I didn't take much pixies coz 1st- saye agak teruja dgn MP and 2ndly becoz my bag was such a mess, malas nak kuar2kan kamera! And my newly acquired skill solat-in-fitting-room was nearly perfect! Muehehe...Thanks to Debenhams and Zara comfortable and big fitting room!

I went back with one Debenham skirt shirt (whatever thing u call it, dun give a damn) and broccoli, rice and carrot from Tesco (?? apakah??), Kak Rose with some stuff from Gasolene and Atiq with her new bubu from Kak Rose. (Atique, mission cari hadiah birthday for urself gagal lagi!!)

Of Stupid Bus and My Treat

We reached town at about 5.55pm and since my urinary bladder was about to burst (tahan wudhu' dari pagi nye pasal), I decided to take bus from town, instead of going back from Glasheen. Furthermore, I need to get home ASAP coz I promised the girls to cook dinner for them dan saya juga penakut dan saya takut mahu berjalan pulang keseorangan from Glasheen.

BUT!

I had to wait for the #8 bus for 12 minutes! And it didn't stop in front of Castlewhite eventho I'm pretty sure the guy behind me rang the bell 5 freakin times!!!!! Dahlah kena berdiri and I had to grip the tiang on the bus firmly that I nearly fell several times. (ok statement takde kaitan) Then he stopped us at the next stop, in front of the Uni Hall and we (me and the guy) had to walk back to Castlewhite. Stupiiiiiddd!!!!!!

I reach home approx at 6.30pm. Changed clothes and rushed off to the kitchen to prepare things. Jeng Yin helped me to put the marinated chicken in the oven before that. I did the chilli sauce the nite before (right after Atique ajak gi MP.haha excited nye pasal). So I was left with the soup, kicap and the rice itself. I cooked Nasi Ayam for them. Luckily the whole thing turned out to be quite okay despite some kurang2 here and there. I'm glad they like it...

Atiq and her 2nd ke 3rd more than €90 choice of things-to-buy. Haha...saba ye Atiq tunggu discount!.
Zara~
Tudung terkelepet sbb hujan and angin

Kak Rose and Atiq

P/S : thans kak rose & atiq! muahxXxXxx..Atiq next year tak balek summer kumpul duet bleh blanja gi MP eh...yeaayy!!

UCC & Castlewhite - the pictures

This is one of the entrance to UCC main buildings. If I were to go for Anatomy class / library / Boole basement, I need to walk through this passage (selepas mendaki bukit yg curam.kalau pepagi yg sejuk pastu lambat gi kelas serious nak mati rase panjat bukit)

The Quad. They said the walkways running through the greens of the Quad are reserved for graduates. Any undergrads that dare to walk thru are tempting fate to ruin their hopes of qualifying. Superstitious...superstitious but...wtf, not qualifying adalah satu perkara yg sgt ku takuti so ye, baek. Saya ikut saje.

Ancient buildings of UCC.

Anatomy LECTURE THEATER @ Windle building. hahah. Old skooolll sangat. Saket pinggang kalau blaja kat sini.
p/s : ktorang blaja gune projector la..takdenye dier tulis/lukis everything on the blackboard.

The Crest. Another legendary tale. The "sacred" UCC crest is located under the arches in the Quad. Be careful not to trample on them as those who did would be cursed for their remaining days in UCC.

Cerita karut :
The crest marks the resting place of UCC's 1st atendee of their dental course. Having failed final yr with 49% (passing mark 50% ppl), he dropped out, n harboured a bitter resentment towards the UCC lectures for years afterward. 15 yrs later he dissapeared from public life& was presumed dead. He was later found dead of hypothermia, locked into a closet in the anatomy department, a knife gripped between his teeth. (ironic gle kan. amik dental course pastu mati pun nak tunjuk gak smangat gigi2)

Mari kite tengok perbezaan pokok sewaktu Autumn & Winter
View from my room. Bushy. Leafy.
Nak amik gambar sungai pun terhalang dgn pokok2 itu.

Ops sorry terselit gmbr my bed. Malas nak alter the position. By the way that's my bed. And the notice board during my early days. Skarang dah penuh dah notice boards tu. On the wall I put the calendar and marked the passing days before I went to sleep. Haha...sangap gler kan counting days nak balek eventho uncertained lagi the date!

Back to the compare & contrast, this is the same area on the previous 2 pictures. Pokok2 kering. Siap bleh nampak the buildings across the River Lee. Yup, it's one of UCC buildings but i'm not quite sure what building is that. Saye cume tahu : Windle building (tmpat anatomy lecture and anatomy&physiology lab), student centre (the most un-ancient building kat situ), Kane building (sebab ade meeting MCS before tuh) and Engineering building (sebab ade program PPMC kat situ). huhuhu..tu je..len2 tak sure.
The 'haunted' River Lee.. btulke haunted???

My study kerrel. Sepah. Yup I know. Menghiasi dinding saye ialah, L-R : gambar bersama rakan2 yg saya sayangi bersama penanda bear cute pemberian Ida, gambar raya kluarga saye (sob sob), kad raye abg saye kasi, table for Type O diet (haha), kad good luck exam pemberian kak Aimi saye (sweet kan dier kasi saye for my 1st anatomy exam) and mini ball I bought from Dublin.

start random pictures plak

Sewaktu sesi menghabiskan barang2 bazar Ramadhan&open house. The extra kulit popia were creatively shaped into words dan err..shapes? Bukti kami sememangnye kurang hiburan di Cork. Pastu kat blakang tu kantoi buku Langkah Memasak - haha...masak mi bandung gune perencah pun nak gune buku gak. In the round tupperware - sambal kicap! My house's must have penambah rase. Abg saye kalo boleh gi kedai pon dier nak angkut sambal kicap.

Peek into my cupboard! My space is the upper part ye.. (sedih kena jengket2 slalu nak amek barang.

L-R : honey (tiap2 pagi saye melantak ni ngan waffle-saye tatau nape saye tak suke makan cereal?) hot choc & coffee - my must have drinks (tea is not really my cup of tea), salt, kiub pati ayam/ikan bilis knorr and brahims - ayam masak merah, kari ayam n rendang ayam. Sayang nak gune nnt abes.... =( I'll keep them for emergency use only..

L-R : Cereal (yg saye tak makan2 sejak beli..errr...5 weeks ago?), tupperware containing serbuk kari, serbuk cili, kunyit, perencah nasik goreng+bihun goreng, pita bread, my FAVOURITE McVities Waffle, Sugar and John West Tuna - in case mengidam nak makan ikan. Sini susah nak dapat ikan ohhhh saye rindu ikan yg abg saye slalu pancing pastu mak saye kukus...~
L-R : Keropok (got from Ummi when I visited them in Dublin. haha ala2 cenderahati laahh), Basmati rice (uiyo makan basmati kaye ke?? taklah.....saje je konon2 jage kesihatan), Fussili pasta n tupperware tadi..hoho..

This is what I cooked for dinner today. Ayam kicap blackpepper and sayur goreng. I cooked for Wany & Mihah too coz they are busy preparing for their upcoming winter exams. Gi study group kat umah senior sian nanti balek penat nak masak2. Erm..kena la bantu membantu kan what are friends for?

Hehehe...byk plak bebel~

hehehe...
it'll be easier for me as I'm having a class at Cork University Hosp. tomorrow. CUH would be nearer from their house.. It takes about 30-40 mins walk from castlewhite...Can't imagine how am I going through this during winter..
Okayh...till then~

Looking thru my lenses

The weather is getting colder...and colder..and colder...

Living here, away from home makes me realize how perfect the life I had back in Malaysia..

acehhh...feeling2 terlebih ni sbnanye sebab tension dah 2 hari makan nasik goreng ngan telur jeeee...
I think we are developing the letak-campak-masak-sesuka hati skill and I bet it'll get better day by day. Yesterday we had nasi goreng belacan + rase ayam (rase je...ayam takde...senior pun da abeh stock =(( ) + tomyam paste and the great omelette. The taste was...what should I say..close to tasty..but still not there. But thank God the bread pudding saved the day. It was delicious (gorgeous bak kate hsemate Nida, an Irish I forgot the name oledi)

Yesterday one of my hsemate, Katrina had a party..
It was quite..shocking. Pernah dgr lagu Alhamdulillah? ya..mari kita nyanyikan verse lagu itu dgn penuh bersemangat..

berpesta ke pagi botol bergelimpangan
kekasih muda bukan takat berpegang tangan
harta dan jamuan nafsu tidak berkekalan
bila menjelang tua bukan itu jadi bekalan
tapi..wtf..what do they care about bekalan menjelang tua. It's something that they've been holding onto since they were born. It's is their blood..running thru their vein..
Here in Eire, they party a lot. Yesterday when we were on our way back to our rooms we bumped into a group of girls on the way..to start their nightlife. One of the girl, Shannon asked :

S : are you coming out tonite?
Us : No.
S : how about tomorrow's nite
Us : No. We don't think so..
S : How about Thursday, Friday...weekends
Us : No..we don't really go out at nite. U mean, to pub is it?
S : Yeah..y don't u join us..yada yada..bla bla..

Huhu..they are friendly..really..They meant to make friends, maybe make us feel home..not alienated..but the cultural difference were just too big.

Now...this is just a new start. Many fun and INTERESTING things waiting ahead. Yup, it might be a bit scary but these what made life more interesting aite?
